Minister Peleshi welcomes the Chair of the Nato Military Committee, Admiral Robert Bauer

The Defence Minister Niko Peleshi welcomed in a special meeting the Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Robert Bauer, who is on a visit to Albania, at the invitation of the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Arben Kingji.

The Defence Minister Peleshi expressed his appreciation for the important visit paid during such a critical time for defense and security in Europe and the whole world. Furthermore, the Minister of Defense congratulated the chair of the Military Committee for the leadership displayed with NATO highest military authorities; moreover, for the very valuable and professional military advice, obtained through the consensus of all member countries and their importance in political decision-making.

Defence Minister Peleshi emphasized the unsparing support of our country in political, diplomatic, military, and economic aspects for as long as it is needed.

Defense Minister guaranteed the chair of the Military Committee about the 2% Defense Budget by 2024, yet this figure is not enough as regards the current security situation.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to the security situation in Kosovo, which should not be left out of the Alliance's attention, especially at a time when pro-Russian rhetoric in the Balkans is increasing day by day.

At the end of the meeting, the two interlocutors agreed to implement the decisions taken by the heads of state and government of the NATO countries during the Madrid Summit last year, but also on the issues that will be discussed at the next Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 11 - 12 July 2023.
