Defence Minister Niko Peleshi visited Slovenia, at the invitation of the Defence Minister of Slovenia Marjan Ŝarec.
During the conversation between the two ministers, the good relations and cooperation between Albania and Slovenia were appreciated and not only in the field of Security and Defense.
Minister Peleshi emphasized that: "Slovenia is a partner of Albania and a supporter of our country in the European Union integration process.”
In the joint press conference, Mr. Peleshi said that he informed his counterpart Ŝarec about the latest political developments in Albania, about the implemented reforms as well as the maximum commitment of the Albanian government towards the fulfillment of the main objective of membership in the European Union.
Emphasizing Albania's role in favor of good neighborliness, prosperity and the promotion of democratic values in the Western Balkans region, Minister Peleshi said that he asked his Slovenian counterpart to continue supporting Kosovo's inclusion in regional initiatives, where it can give its contribution and be an added value for the development of regional cooperation.
The Defence Minister also introduced Minister Ŝarec to the reforms and the special attention of the Albanian government for the reformation and modernization of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, including investments in the field of Cyber Defense, in the military industry as well as the significant improvementof the financial treatment for the military.
“Special attention is being paid to reforms in the field of education and training of the Armed Forces personnel, for which I personally firmly believe that such an investment today will bring a brighter and better future for the Albanian army.” - said Peleshi.
The Defence Ministers of Albania and Slovenia exchanged ideas and agreed to intensify cooperation in the field of Security and Defense and engaged the respective staffs in the drafting and concrete implementation of these ideas.
