Fire situation in Albania, 26 July 2023, 17:00

As a result of the continuous work of the Civil Emergency forces, supported by effectives of Armed Forces, under the coordination of the Civil Defense Agency, it has been possible to improve the situation in some fire areas in the country.
The fire in olive groves areas in the Kreshpan has been extinguished and is being monitored by the Armed Forces troops and Fire Protection Rescue effectives. Currently, the fires in Plyk – Kraps - Gjorkos forests are under control.

The situation in Hekal, Mallakastër is being managed effectively and the last active outbreak has been successfully isolated. Efforts are ongoing to extinguish fires at the urban waste landfill in Vlora. Emergency forces face difficulties because of the terrain in the village of Buz, Memaliaj municipality. The fire's spread is limited due to its location between two gritty areas. It has been possible to isolate the fire on the mountain of Gjallic, in Kukës.
The flames and fires in the village of Mandaj, in Kavajë are under control.

Today, there were five active fires in the territory of Albania. To extinguish them, 144 members of the Armed Forces were involved, along with 13 vehicles, three fire engines, and the Cougar helicopter.

In the village of Peshtan, Plyk, Kraps, Kreshpan, Frakull intensive work continues for keeping fires under control. Since it is impossible to intervene on the ground with tools, a helicopter was requested to assist in the pine forest in the village of Gjorgoz. Through intensive work, fires have now been managed in Hekal, Mallakastër.

The process of preventing active fires at the landfill site in the urban area of Vlora municipality is still ongoing. In the village of Buz, Memaliaj municipality, the process continues to isolate the fire.

The fire in Skrevan, Dimal has been extinguished. At present, only smoke remains in the area. Currently, the fire in Gjallica, Kukës is being monitored and completely isolate.
