The Foreign Minister of Canada, official visit to Albania

Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, hosted in an official meeting the Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly. The meeting was of a particular importance since, as the two ministers discussed various issues including cooperation and the special role and contribution of Canada in the Western Balkans.
Peleshi expressed his gratitude for all the support that Canada has given and is giving to Albania, but above all, for the extraordinary support that the Canadian contingent, which leads the NATO mission "Enhanced Forward Presence", gives to the Albanian Armed Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) platoon deployed in Latvia's Adazi Camp.

The Foreign Minister of Canada Mélanie Joly, thanked Minister Peleshi for the hospitality and expressed readiness for intensifying this cooperation within the Alliance.

Minister Joly was focused on the importance of supporting the Western Balkans, the security challenges that the whole world is facing today, as well as the need to increase support for democratic countries that face or may face interference or disinformation campaigns by Russia.

The ministers reaffirmed their determination to continue contributing to international security, including continued support for Ukraine, as well as strengthening diplomatic ties and cooperation between Albania and Canada.
