The Land Force completed successfully the "Steadfast Defender 2024" exercise, Peleshi: Ready to consolidate the operational and tactical dimension

The successful conclusion of the "Steadfast Defender 2024" winter exercise by the Group-Battalion of Light Infantry marks a significant milestone for our Armed Forces.
Distinguished guests including the President of the Republic of Albania and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bajram Begaj, Defense Minister Niko Peleshi, Chief of the General Staff Major General Arben Kingji, along with other military commanders, gathered in the region of Puka to witness the final day of this crucial exercise.
In his address, Defense Minister Niko Peleshi congratulated the men and women of the Light Infantry Group - Battalion, a unit certified by NATO, for their readiness for deployment and operational proficiency within the Alliance. He also commended the dedication and determination of all units involved in the exercise.
"An increasing number of opponents and threats to Western values characterize today's security environment." - Minister Peleshi remarked. "Russia's brutal aggression against Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East have shaken global order and security, emphasizing the need for a joint response from all NATO countries and the development of critical capacities to strengthen national stability."
"We now have a new National Security Strategy, soon to be followed by the Military Strategy and the Long-Term Development Plan of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania." - Mnister Peleshi continued. "This strong strategic foundation propels us to consolidate our operational and tactical capabilities, emphasizing the continuous transformation of our forces and capacities."
According to the Defence Minister, these capacities will soon be tested in the important NATO exercise "Steadfast Defender 2024". He expressed satisfaction that this year's promise for investments in 2% GDP within NATO for Security and Defense is being fulfilled, emphasizing continued financial and social support for military personnel.
In his speech, President Bajram Begaj affirmed Albania's unwavering commitment to Euro-Atlantic principles, stressing the nation's historical dedication to peace and security. He highlighted the importance of solidarity with fellow member countries and further strengthening transatlantic ties.
The Commander of the Land Force, Major General Ilir Xhebexhia, expressed gratitude for the military support and pledged the Force's commitment to work with dedication, discipline, and professionalism in fulfilling obligations to the Alliance.
The "Steadfast Defender 2024" exercise is part of this year's annual training and exercise program of the Land Force and takes place at a pivotal moment. Since November 1, 2023, the Force has transitioned to a new organizational structure, comprising a more effective, well-equipped, and motivated military force prepared to carry out the constitutional mission in defense of the country.
