Albania 15 years in NATO, Minister Peleshi's message: Our strong commitment to Euro-Atlantic values will remain unchanged

Fifteen years ago, Albania became a full member of the NATO Alliance. On this anniversary, it continues its mission alongside the USA, allies, and partners to defend peace and security worldwide. By actively participating in international missions with its best Armed Forces members, Albania has joined the Alliance's efforts in facing the security challenges, earning recognition as a respected NATO Ally.

In fulfillment of its obligations to the Alliance, Albania has significantly increased budgetary support for the defense, reaching the objective of 2% of the Gross Domestic Product.

Meanwhile, the modernization and expansion of capacities within the Albanian Armed Forces continue. Investments in capacities and modern technology demonstrate that our country is steadily building a solid military force to defend the homeland and confidently facing future challenges.

On March 4, 2024, NATO opened a new Air Base in Kuçova. This base will play a crucial role in NATO missions and is the only NATO base in the Western Balkans. This highlights Albania's growing role in maintaining peace and security in the region.

On the 15th Anniversary, Defense Minister Niko Peleshi reaffirms the Albanian Government's dedication to the journey toward a secure future. “We are proud to be part of this history. Our commitment to Euro-Atlantic values remains steadfast,” - Minister Peleshi stated in his message marking the occasion.

On April 9, a grand ceremony will be organized at the Land Force to celebrate this anniversary, with high representatives from NATO member countries and the Albanian state in attendance.
