"Enhancing Cyber Incident Response Capacities in the Western Balkans" is the theme of the two-day "BalkanSecure 2.0" Conference, held this year in Albania at the Center for Innovation, Security and Defense.
This initiative is organized in collaboration with the Sense Cyber Research Center, Chevening Alumni Kosovo, and the Innovation Center for Security and Defense, with support from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO).
Deputy Defense Minister Dorian Tola emphasized the pressing need to strengthen cyber defenses, stating that the region faces real and sophisticated threats, particularly to digital infrastructure. He noted that hybrid warfare has become a common destabilization tool, highlighting Albania’s commitment to improving its defense capabilities through better coordination and adopting international best practices.
The conference will feature representatives from Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERT) and Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) from the region, as well as Chevening Western Balkans Cyber Security Fellows, participating in panel discussions, workshops, and crisis simulations. BalkanSecure 2.0 builds on the success of last year’s inaugural event.
