XVI Contingent deploys to Latvia, Minister Vengu: EOD is a national asset

At the Support Command, a ceremony was held for the departure of the XVI EOD Contingent, consisting of 21 servicemembers, who will join NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence mission as part of the multinational brigade in Camp Adazi, Latvia.

The ceremony was attended by Defense Minister Pirro Vengu, Chief of General Staff Major General Arben Kingji, Support Command Commander Colonel Shkëqim Çela, family members of the contingent, and other guests.
Commander Çela expressed his gratitude to the attendees and praised the dedication of the XVI Contingent, emphasizing their role in continuing the legacy of previous deployments.
Defense Minister Vengu acknowledged the sacrifices made by the servicemembers and their families in contributing to international peace and security:

Your sacrifices, and those of your families, whom I deeply respect, are highly valued by us, your fellow citizens, and your homeland. I wish you a successful mission.” - said the Minister, highlighting the recognized excellence of Albania's EOD capabilities.

On behalf of the contingent, Commander Major Algert Lala pledged to represent the Albanian Armed Forces with discipline and professionalism, further enhancing their reputation within NATO missions.
Since 2017, the Support Command has participated in this mission with an EOD platoon, standing alongside NATO allies in the spirit of unity and cooperation.
