Defense Minister Pirro Vengu Meets with Military Attachés and representatives

Defense Minister Pirro Vengu hosted a working meeting with Albania’s Military Attachés accredited to allied and partner nations, as well as senior Albanian representatives in key NATO structures.
The discussions focused on the security and defense landscape in Europe, along with the challenges anticipated in 2025. Minister Vengu underscored the importance of maintaining a dignified presence in their respective roles while encouraging more proactive lobbying efforts to advance Albania’s strategic projects within NATO.
A significant part of the discussions revolved around major “Host Nation” infrastructure initiatives, such as the Porto Romano Naval Base, the Kuçovë Air Base, and enhancing mobility along Corridor VIII.
The Minister also stressed the need to strengthen collaboration with allied and partner nations in the defense industry, which has become a key priority. This comes as the legal framework has been finalized with the establishment of the Defense Industry Agency and the launch of KAYO, a dedicated defense company.
Attachés and military representatives were briefed on Albania’s key objectives for 2025, outlined in recently approved strategic documents. They also exchanged ideas with the Minister and his team on improving communication and coordination.
In addition, the attachés and representatives held meetings with officials from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Defense Industry Agency, and the Defense and Security Innovation Center, all aimed at promoting Albania’s Armed Forces in the countries where they serve.
