During a patrol in the Aegean Sea in the early hours of Friday morning, the Albanian vessel Butrinti carried out a search and rescue (SAR) operation, assisting a raft carrying 32 Afghan migrants. The boat had departed from Çeşme, Turkey, with the Greek island of Chios as its intended destination.
Just a few days earlier, Butrinti had also assisted 36 irregular migrants from the Middle East who were attempting to reach Greece by sea.
In the past four days alone, a total of 70 migrants have been rescued, demonstrating the vessel’s commitment and readiness to ensure safety and save lives in international waters.
