Albania elected to the Council of the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation (IALA)

From February 18 to 21, 2025, the first General Assembly of the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation (IALA) was held in Singapore, following its transition to an intergovernmental organization on August 22, 2024.
The event gathered around 400 delegates from 65 countries, including senior government officials and maritime industry leaders, offering a platform for exchanging ideas and best practices in maritime safety.
Albania was represented by the Commander of the Naval Force/Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Adnand Agastra, who emphasized the need for an advanced maritime aid system to facilitate sustainable maritime transport and protect the marine environment, especially in the Mediterranean ecosystem.
During the assembly, Albania was elected to the IALA Council, underscoring its commitment to enhancing international maritime safety standards and promoting sustainable practices.
This event highlighted the importance of international cooperation in improving safety and efficiency in navigation while promoting the preservation of the marine environment for future generations. Albania remains dedicated to playing an active role in this process, advocating for the highest standards in marine aids and contributing to a safer and more sustainable marine future.
