Minister Vengu meets with his French Counterpart: We will modernize the Armed Forces with Mobile Air Surveillance Radar

The Albanian Air Force will be equipped with advanced mobile air surveillance capabilities, while bilateral cooperation between Albania and France in the field of security and defense will be further intensified.



Defense Minister Pirro Vengu, received his French Counterpart, Sébastien Lecornu, in an official meeting, marking the first visit of a Minister of the French Armed Forces to our country.
Following the Guard of Honor ceremony, the two ministers held a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by a meeting with their respective delegations, where discussions focused on the modernization and development of defense capabilities, the military industry, as well as training and education.

At the conclusion of the delegation meeting, Ministers Vengu and Lecornu signed a technical agreement for the purchase of an Air Surveillance System from a French industrial contractor.
In conclusion, the two ministers held a joint press conference, during which Mr. Vengu emphasized the importance of this meeting, considering it a significant boost to the advancement of relations between the two countries in the field of security and defense.

Minister Vengu considered the technical agreement for the modernization of our Air Force with advanced mobile air surveillance capabilities as a clear indicator of a strategic investment for national needs and in the function of the Alliance.

For his part, the Minister of the French Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, described the signed agreement as very important not only for increasing the capabilities of the Albanian Air Force, but also for increasing interoperability between allied forces.

The official visit of the Minister of the French Armed Forces to our country also takes place within the framework of the European Political Community Summit held today in Tirana.
