Deputy Minister Mr. Dritan Hila visits the Air Base in Gjadër

Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Dritan Hila, accompanied by the Air Force Commander, Brigadier General Frederik Beltoja visited today the Gjadër Air Base.

After the meeting with the personnel serving in this military base and the visiting of its premises, Deputy Minister Hila met with representatives of the media and answered their interest regarding the issues related to the military base, including the allegations made recently by the opposition on the use this base for drug trafficking.

Deputy Minister Hila emphasized that, we control all the Albanian military bases, as you can see the base claimed as the place where the transport with a white plane was made, here at the Gjadër Base, is technically impossible. You see it yourself, the runway is filled with litter and it is unused for a long time. The air space is monitored by our allies, Italy and Greece. Our national airspace is patrolled by NATO allies. All the information goes to the allies and is processed by them. So, you have to have quite a lot fantasy to think that there is a transport of drugs and the Ministry of Defence have corrupt Brussels, Italy and Greece. It is not a kind of fantasy for an opposition, which should be more serious in this regard, - stated Deputy Minister Dritan Hila.
