The Defence Minister Pirro Vengu, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, visited the military laboratory at the Trauma Hospital, an important healthcare investment for the personnel of the Albanian Armed Forces.
Completed in mid-2024, the laboratory now provides services to over 75,000 individuals who benefit from the Military Status, in accordance with Law no. 9210 “On the Status of the Military Personnel.” This healthcare service meets the needs of active-duty personnel and their families, reservists, cadets, students, recruits, as well as foreign military attachés and troops participating in exercises and training in Albania.
During the visit, the Defence Minister reviewed the investments made and highlighted the importance of this laboratory as a vital pillar for the health and operational readiness of the Armed Forces, ensuring that military personnel have access to modern and professional medical support at all times.
The laboratory performs 45 essential clinical, biochemical, and bacteriological analyses, crucial for the diagnosis and monitoring of military health. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, on par with that of the University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa.” The laboratory staff includes 13 professionals, both civilian and military specialists.
