Defence Minister Vengu Visits Civil Emergency support base: Expanding capacities for full modernization

 

Defence Minister Pirro Vengu, accompanied by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Altin Kurti, paid a visit to the Civil Emergency Support Base, where he met with Armed Forces personnel who are actively engaged in supporting communities during emergency situations.

During the visit, Minister Vengu praised the investments made over the past two years in infrastructure, modern equipment, and specialized training—investments that have significantly strengthened the operational capacity of the base. He emphasized that these are only the first steps toward full modernization and reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to enhancing the base’s capabilities:

“The Civil Emergency Support Base plays a vital role in Albania’s national disaster response system. Every year, more than 500 personnel take part in over 50 operations, demonstrating professionalism and dedication in service to our citizens.” said Minister Vengu.

He also highlighted the importance of close cooperation with the National Civil Protection Agency, calling it a key factor in ensuring a fast, coordinated, and effective emergency response.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Defence Minister expressed his gratitude to the personnel of the Civil Emergency Support Base, thanking them for their commitment, sacrifice, and the trust they instill in the Albanian people.
