Minister Vengu meets turkish counterpart Güler: Deepening strategic cooperation in Defense and Security

During a visit to Turkey for the 17th International Defense Industry Fair-IDEF 2025, Albanian Defense Minister Pirro Vengu met with his Turkish counterpart, Yaşar Güler, to discuss expanding defense and security cooperation.
The two officials focused on strengthening the strategic relationship between the two countries, with Minister Vengu thanking Turkey for its ongoing support in enhancing Albania’s defense capacity. Referring to NATO’s latest summit in The Hague, Vengu emphasized Albania’s commitment to boosting key military capabilities, particularly improving air force readiness, military industry development, and critical infrastructure, with a flexible and multi-purpose approach.
A major point of discussion was the future of Albania’s defense industry.
“The Albanian government is committed to making this sector a solid and competitive part of the national economy. ” - Vengu said.
He added that Albania is ready to explore partnerships with Turkish defense companies, especially in co-production and technology transfer. He noted that Albania’s participation in IDEF 25 is a key step toward building those connections.
