Minister Vengu welcomes his Bulgarian Counterpart Atanas Zapryanov: Together in missions for European security

Defence Minister Pirro Vengu received today in Tirana the Defence Minister of Bulgaria, Atanas Zapryanov, accompanied by a high-level delegation on his first official visit to Albania.

During their meeting, the two ministers underlined the excellent relations between Albania and Bulgaria in the field of Defence and Security, stressing the importance of further strengthening regional cooperation in addressing common challenges in Southeast Europe.

The discussions focused on industry and infrastructure strategic projects, notably Corridor VIII and the Porto Romano Port, as key nodes for enhancing the mobility of NATO Allied forces across the region.

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continue contributing jointly to international missions, where Albania and Bulgaria already serve side by side — in the NATO Forward Presence in Bulgaria and in the KFOR Mission in Kosovo — as evidence of their shared determination to strengthen security and stability in Europe.
