Consultative meetings with EU experts on the modernization of the transport fleet of the Albanian Armed Forces

From October 21-23, 2025, experts from the Ministry of Defense, the Albanian Armed Forces, and representatives of the EEAS’ European Peace Facility Division (EPF), the European Commission and the EU Delegation to Albania held consultative meetings to finalize the EPF's second assistance measure for modernizing the Republic of Albania's Armed Forces transport fleet. Approved by the Council of the European Union in July 2025, the second assistance measure is worth 15 million euros and will enhance the AAF's ability to deploy and contribute to EU Common Security and Defense Policy operations and missions.

This second assistance measure follows the first bilateral assistance measure under the EPF in support of the AAF, worth €13 million, adopted in July 2024. This measure is currently being implemented to strengthen the capacities of the AAF and improve defense capabilities.

Reflecting Albania’s and the EU’s mutual commitment to strengthen the cooperation in security and defense, the MoD and the EEAS explored opportunities to further support the strengthening of the capacities of the Albanian Armed Forces.
