Accompanied by members of the unit, the two ministers conveyed a joint message of interinstitutional cooperation in protecting the life and health of citizens, a mission that unites the health structures and the Armed Forces in service of national security and well-being.
In his remarks, Minister Vengu emphasized the importance of combining institutional roles to support the health and well-being of both service members and the surrounding community:
“Our military bases have now become centers that promote health care not only for the women in uniform but also for the local community. This is a tradition we are determined to strengthen further.” said Minister Vengu.
Minister Sala praised the contribution of women in uniform, underlining the importance of consistent attention to health.
“The National Breast Cancer Screening Program continues throughout the year because prevention saves lives.”- stated Minister Sala, adding that from January to October 2025 alone, around 16,000 mammograms have been performed through both stationary and mobile services.
At the end of the event, one of the Ministry of Health’s mobile mammography units was stationed at the Northern Infantry Regiment base to provide free screening services for the women of the unit.
This activity is part of the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defence to promote care and prevention as essential components of citizen security and protection.
