New Air Force Commander assumes office, Nufi: The air component is the pride of a nation’s Armed Forces

A ceremony marking the assumption of duty of the new Air Force Commander, Brigadier General Edmond Voci, was held at Air Force Command headquarters, located within the military section of “Mother Teresa” International Airport.

The ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Ermal Nufi, Deputy Defence Minister Enkelejdi Joti, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, force commanders, and personnel from across all Air Force units.
In his remarks, Defence Minister Nufi praised the contribution and leadership of Major General Ferdinant Dimo, highlighting the Air Force’s vital role within the Armed Forces and in fulfilling Albania’s commitments to NATO.
He noted that the change of command reflects both institutional continuity and confidence in the future, adding that the ongoing transformation of the Air Force forms part of Albania’s broader journey as a reliable Ally within the Alliance.
The Defence Minister also emphasised the importance of investing in human capital through improved service conditions, salary increases, and continuous training in line with NATO standards. He highlighted the Air Force’s active participation in international missions and exercises, as well as ongoing efforts to enhance operational capabilities, including the expansion of the helicopter fleet.
He further underlined the strategic importance of Kuçova Air Base as a NATO facility, strengthening Albania’s role in regional and wider security.
Defence Minister Nufi expressed confidence that Brigadier General Voci will lead the Air Force with dedication and professionalism, reaffirming the Ministry of Defence’s full support.
In his address, Brigadier General Voci outlined his vision for a modern, well-trained, disciplined, and cohesive Air Force, where every individual feels valued and motivated to give their best in service of the Republic of Albania.
The ceremony concluded with the symbolic handover of command, during which Major General Dimo presented the Air Force flag to the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Kingji, who then formally handed it over to the new Commander, Brigadier General Voci.
