Defence Minister Nufi visits Land Force: Focus on the modernisation of the Armed Forces

Defence Minister Ermal Nufi paid his first visit since taking office to the Land Force Command in Zall-Herr, where, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, he was briefed on the structures and capabilities of the Armed Forces.

During the visit to this unit, considered the backbone of the Armed Forces, the Minister received an overview from the Commander of the Land Force, Major General Petrit Çuni, on the day-to-day activities of personnel, as well as their key challenges and priorities.

In meetings with generals, personnel, and senior leadership, the main objectives and the functioning of the Land Force structures were presented.

Minister Nufi also held a dedicated meeting with the command staff and senior leaders, where discussions focused on the continuation of reforms and the enhancement of operational capabilities.

The Defence Minister inspected the facilities of the Tactical Centre, the MADM training area, and the Light Infantry Battalion, all located within the Zall-Herr Command, where he had the opportunity to observe firsthand the technical standards and level of troop readiness.

He was also introduced to various types of weapon systems acquired through recent investments in the Armed Forces, including the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile system, which was delivered to the Land Force recently as part of military cooperation with the United States.

In his remarks to the leadership, Minister Nufi emphasised the importance of dedication to the uniform and professional standards: “It is very important for people to take pride in the uniform, and when you see such standards, it makes us proud of the technical level achieved by the Albanian Armed Forces,” he stated.

The visit also highlighted the continued commitment to strengthening and further modernising the Armed Forces.
