Ministers Nufi and Sala inspect ongoing modernization works at the University Hospital of Trauma

Defence Minister Ermal Nufi and Minister of Health and Social Welfare Prof. Evis Sala, accompanied by Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, Chief of the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces, visited the University Hospital of Trauma to inspect progress on one of the country’s most important hospital modernization projects.

During the visit, Minister Nufi stressed the strategic importance of the hospital within Albania’s healthcare network, highlighting its responsibility for treating a large volume of patients from throughout the country.

He noted:
“The establishment of a new trauma center in the north of the country is expected to create a more balanced distribution of patient admissions, strengthening response capabilities and improving service efficiency across the national healthcare system.”

During her inspection of the operating block, which is undergoing comprehensive reconstruction and modernization, Minister Sala emphasized that work is advancing steadily and on schedule. She also commended the dedication and professionalism of healthcare personnel who continue to provide uninterrupted services to patients.

“Despite the reconstruction works, services at the University Hospital of Trauma remain fully operational. Medical teams are working in two shifts and maintaining high professional standards to ensure safe and quality care for every patient. This demonstrates how a major investment can be successfully implemented without affecting public access to healthcare services,” said Minister Sala.

The University Hospital of Trauma is one of Albania’s leading healthcare institutions, providing specialized treatment for trauma and critical emergencies while ensuring advanced hospital care for citizens across the country.
