Defence Minister Nufi Visits Athens for Talks with Greek Counterpart Nikos Dendias

Nufi: “Strengthening Defence Cooperation, Cyber Security, and Civil Emergency Preparedness”

Defence Minister Ermal Nufi paid an official visit to Athens, where he held talks with the Minister of National Defence of Greece, Nikos Dendias, aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of defence and security.

The meeting reaffirmed the excellent state of Albania–Greece relations and the two countries’ shared commitment to expanding practical cooperation within NATO, enhancing regional security, and addressing common strategic challenges.

Minister Nufi described Greece as a close friend and trusted ally, expressing his appreciation for the consistent support Greece has provided to Albania’s European integration process.

A key topic of the discussions was cyber defence and cyber security, with both ministers emphasizing the importance of closer cooperation in building resilience against emerging cyber threats.

“Albania has significantly strengthened its cyber resilience through close cooperation with NATO Allies and strategic partners. We are committed to further expanding this cooperation, both bilaterally with Greece and within NATO, to address the evolving challenges of the cyber domain." - Minister Nufi said.

The two ministers also reviewed the strong cooperation between the Albanian and Hellenic Armed Forces, particularly in military education, joint training, and professional exchanges. They further discussed enhancing coordination and mutual support in responding to civil emergencies, especially during the summer wildfire season.

During his visit to Athens, and at the invitation of Minister Dendias, Defence Minister Nufi is also scheduled to participate in the Athens Defence Conference 2026, organized by the Delphi Economic Forum and the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy where regional security and defence challenges will be among the key topics of discussion.
