Minister Nufi at the National Civil Emergency Operations Centre: “Around-the-clock monitoring and coordination of the wildfire response”

Defence Minister Ermal Nufi was at the National Civil Emergency Operations Centre, part of the National Civil Protection Agency (NCPA), where developments across the country are monitored continuously and the response of civil emergency services is coordinated.

In a video message, Minister Nufi highlighted the importance of effective coordination between local and central authorities.

“This is where the entire wildfire response across the Republic of Albania is monitored, managed and coordinated. The centre deals not only with wildfires, but also with floods and any other natural disasters that may affect the country. Its work continues uninterrupted, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Dedicated staff monitor the entire country, region by region and municipality by municipality, identifying the areas where the situation is most critical. Through the coordination of the National Civil Protection Agency and the joint efforts of local fire services, the Armed Forces, the Civil Emergency Support Battalion and other relevant units, including the Land Force, the Air Force and aerial firefighting crews; we are able to respond to wildfires throughout Albania ” the Defence Minister said.

Minister Nufi commended the work of the civil emergency services and the Armed Forces over the summer, particularly in addressing the challenging conditions caused by high temperatures and wildfires in several parts of the country.

“My special thanks go to everyone involved in this year’s wildfire response. They have faced the severe challenges of an exceptionally hot and difficult summer. The situation has been managed through the prompt response of all available services,at both local and central level which have been deployed wherever fires have broken out " Minister Nufi noted.

The NCPA Operations Centre continues to monitor the situation around the clock, allowing emerging risks to be identified promptly and the intervention of the relevant services to be coordinated. This ensures the fastest possible response and helps protect lives, property and the environment.
