The Civil Emergency support Base marks its 39th anniversary

Minister Nufi: More than 1,500 civil emergency Support Base Personnel deployed in wildfire response operations so far this summer.

Defence Minister Ermal Nufi visited the Civil Emergency Support Base on the 39th anniversary of its establishment. The unit operates under the Ministry of Defence’s Support Command.

During the visit, Minister Nufi praised the Base’s contribution throughout a particularly challenging wildfire season.

According to the Minister, between April and August 2026, CESB carried out 54 firefighting operations, deploying more than 1,500 personnel and over 180 vehicles and pieces of equipment.

“This unit remains the main operational structure and the backbone of all support activities during civil emergencies and natural disasters across the Republic of Albania,” Minister Nufi said.

Referring to the work of personnel on the ground, the Minister expressed his gratitude to all those who have served on the front line in the fight against the fires.

“I am proud of their dedication and grateful to every one of them who has been on the front line of the fight against wildfires during this particularly difficult summer season,” Nufi stated.

CESB continues to play a key role in organising and supporting civil emergency operations, providing the personnel, logistical resources and operational capabilities required to respond to emergencies throughout the country.
