Defence Minister Kodheli inspects Military Police

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, accompanied by the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, inspected the Military Police unit. She was welcomed by the Commander of the Military Police (MP), Colonel Xhevdet Zeneli, and then followed a series of military demonstrations related to the tasks carried out daily by the MP personnel. The MP personnel mostly demonstrated actions to investigate and detect criminal activity in Armed Forces; to free occupied buildings used by the Armed Forces; escort senior military personalities and VIP, etc. In all these elements, it was clearly noticed the sense of responsibility, professionalism and discipline of the MP troops.

At the end of the demonstrations, Defence Minister Kodheli congratulated the MP personnel for the achievements reached throughout their training process. “I commend you for the work done so far by all the MP sectors, but I want to distinguish and thank in particular the Criminal Police sector, as well as all those boys and girls of MP, who are engaged and have contributed to the detection and prevention of criminal activity, and in particular, in the fight against corruption in the Armed Forces”, - highlighted Minister Kodheli.
Focusing on the work being done, especially in the structural reform and fight against corruption, Minister Kodheli stressed that, we have already approved in the Parliament some of the most important laws such as ,the Law “On the Authorities of Management and Strategic Command”, Law “On Military Career”, Law “On Intelligence and Defence Security Agency” and the working groups are currently working on a series of other laws, that will offer to the Armed Forces the legal basis to conduct their work and daily activity, based on the new realities we are living. In this context, the new law, being prepared “On the Military Police in the Armed Forces”, will offer a better legal support for the accomplishment of your mission, in the fight against crime, in general, and corruption in the Armed Forces, in particular.
Minister Kodheli also commended the MP professional soldier Luiza Gega, for the high results achieved as national record holder, adding that such elite athletes, part of the Armed Forces personnel, will always have the support of the Ministry of Defence and Albanian Government to achieve even higher results. At the end of her speech, Defence Minister Kodheli expressed the unwavering confidence that the MP personnel will also work in the future to create a more professional police and capable to perform any assigned task, in support of its noble mission.
