In the village of Peza e Madhe, Tirana, it was commemorated today the 72th anniversary of the Conference of Peza, one of the most important events in the glorious history of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War. In front of the house museum where 72 years ago the Conference of Peza was held, hundreds of veterans of the National Liberation War, residents of Peza and many citizens from Tirana were gathered to commemorate this important day. At the event attended the Deputy Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Niko Peleshi, Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, Mr. Erion Veliaj, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, the Perfect of Tirana, Mr. Sadi Vorpsi, Members of the Parliament, heads of veterans organizations of the National Liberation War and of the local government, etc.

The meeting was opened by the Mayor of Peza, Mr. Enver Dorzi.

Later on, Defence Minister Mimi Kodheli in her address noted that, a year ago, I was just here in Peza, on the first day of the new government. This year, we have tried to bring security for the future. Albania is now a member of NATO; Albania today is on the path of the European Union, rightfully acquiring the status of a candidate country. But, Albania cannot become what our forefathers dreamed, what all of you here have worked for, if we do not remember the blood of the martyrs. They fought for an ideal, which must be kept up high and preserved with pride, which is the glory of this country. At the conclusion of her address, Minister Kodheli said: “I conclude my address by wishing from the heart, enjoy this festive day, let’s enjoy it all together and remember the heroes and martyrs of this country.”

The participants were addressed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Niko Peleshi.

Afterwards, Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Niko Peleshi, Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli and the other authorities participating in the ceremony, placed wreaths at the monument dedicated to the Conference of Peza, and paid homage at the cemetery of martyrs of Peza.
