Defence Minister Mrs. Kodheli was invited to the introductory meeting of the "The Rights of women, by the concept to the Albanian reality.” the purpose of which is to provide, protect and promote the rights of women in our country.
In the activity held in the premises of Hotel Tirana International were also included the Minister of Youth and Social Welfare Mr. Blendi Klosi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mrs. Dewi van de Weerd, as well as representatives of several associations for the protection of women's rights in our country.

Since the beginning of her speech Minister Kodheli spoke about the resolution Nr. 1325 of the Security Council of the United Nations, which as she said it reaffirms the role that women play in building a better future for new generations. "We cannot win if we leave half the team out of the game. What is essential in meeting this challenge is to change the mentality of society and political will, increase awareness of our society about the role of women in society and strengthening of women associations. "- Said Minister Kodheli, who continued waging a full picture of the role, involvement and representation of women at all levels of decision-making in the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces. "The policies undertaken by the Ministry of Defence to increase the representation of women in the Armed Forces, are expressed in a series of documents, in which we commit to achieve, if not exceed the level of 15% representation of women in the Armed Forces.

The policy of retaining and recruiting women into the ranks of the Armed Forces, is one of my priorities in the field of human resources management, this also highlighted by the personal involvement in the recruitment campaign. I have encouraged young girls to become part of AF. Procedures and criteria for the selection of officers for studying in military academies or colleges are legally equal and provide the same opportunity for women and men where selection procedures are based on merit.

In accordance with the specialty, education and grade, women in the Armed Forces are found to be appointed in many positions that previously were held by men. 7 women hold the position of Director in the Ministry of Defense and General Staff while a woman colonel serves as a representative of the military in our diplomatic representations abroad "- said the Minister Kodheli who also mentioned that this year the number of women who have applied to join the Armed Forces has been doubled.

The specific objective of the project "The Rights of women, by the concept to the Albanian reality. " is to strengthen civil society organizations and ensuring that they are actively engaged in the implementation and strengthening of national and international law that refer to women's rights, such as Resolution 1325, whose recommendations Minister Kodheli said that are included in the training curricula for the training of mission pre-deployment personnel of the Albanian Armed Forces.
