United Kingdom confirms the opening of the Defence Attaché Office

UK Secretary of State for Defence, Mr. Michael Fallon, via a letter sent to Defence Minister, Mrs. Kodheli has confirmed the opening of the Office of the British Defence Attaché in Tirana. UK Defence Attaché Office is expected to be established during the first half of the following year, and will also cover Montenegro which is expected to join NATO in a short time.

In his letter, Secretary Fallon appreciates the importance of increasing the relations between United Kingdom and Albania as a staunch NATO Ally and our country's commitment to contributing to the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), which is led by the United Kingdom. Secretary Fallon considers Albania an important bilateral partner in terms of the joint exercises, offering first class training facilities.

"I am confident that Defence Attaché post will reinforce the strong Defence relationship we have, increase our scope for working together on issues of mutual concern and strengthen still further the cooperation between our Armed Forces” - closed his letter Secretary Fallon.

On April 14 - 15 April 2016, Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli will have a two day visit in Croatia invited by her counterpart Mr. Josip Buljević.
