Remediation of Zaranika group warehouses in Elbasan

The Support Command stated the successful completion of the reduction, remediation and certification of group - warehouses. Preparation and transportation of 272 tons of material was fulfilled by Ammunition and Transport Battalion, while effectives of EOD company and AMMCO's team successfully implemented the control, remediation and certification standards, by remediating an exploited surface of 121.000 m² and 7592 m² of objects that serve to improve local economy.

In the certification ceremony of these group – warehouses remediation, took part the Deputy Defence Minister Mr. Petro Koçi, Support Command Commander Colonel Fatmir Lokaj, local government representatives and representatives of the AMMCO company.

Deputy Defence Minister Mr. Petro Koçi thanked the effectives of Support Command for their readiness and commitment to the successful accomplishment of their mission by implementing as he said "doing their best in fulfilling their duties assigned by the Ministry of Defence and General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces. I can proudly say that we are transfering to the service of the community and society for further development a considerable area, which means that the AAF, are not only working to ensure the safety of people's lives, but also, in this case, they are contributing to the social and economic development of a specific area. Amongst 250 tons of various materials, there were certainly dangerous elements, which indicates a voluminous exceptional work."- Said Mr. Koçi

"The practice followed so far will make possible the minimizing at the maximum of the risks of ammunition for the community and increase the security of activities to be carried out in these areas. Reduction of warehouses in a short time will cut down the costs and save the money of tax payers by reducing the number of personnel, who will be ready for operation and exercise "- said the Commander of the Support Command, Colonel Fatmir Lokaj.

The completion of this operation is an extension of the successful remediation of hot-spots in Gerdec and Poshnje Berat.

In 2016 the Support Command has scheduled the remediation of Arshilengo group - warehouses in Gjirokastra, Nuaj, Krujë, Qafëmolla 1, as also the remediation of hot spots in Klos and Selicë, Burrel.
