Armed Forces Engineer Troops in cooperation with the Albanian Development Fund have completed the reconstruction of the Buna Bridge in Shkodra.
The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, the Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati and other guests were present at the ceremony of the inauguration of this bridge.
In his speech, Prime Minister Rama also spoke about the debate on the reconstruction of the Buna Bridge. "There has been an idiotic debate going on over who owns the bridge, and it turned out that this monument so important to Shkodra is property of the Ministry of Defense, but this is certainly not true. Nevertheless, let us not deal with the broken feet of the bridge of those who rule today Shkodra, but let us deal with what we will continue to do", - said Mr. Rama.
He further emphasized: "The project will interfere with the public infrastructure and will be a real incentive for the tourism in Shkodra. The Museum and the Visitor's Center, which will turn into a landmark near the lake in Shiroka, will be an added value to Shkodra. The project will create not only a promenade but also cultural and artistic space.
The construction of the Buna Bridge started long ago, as the Municipality of Shkodra had completely neglected its reconstruction and consequently this bridge was jeopardized by the total demolition.
After the intervention of the Ministry of Defense to rebuild the Buna Bridge, which is a first category culture monument, it has already taken a new look and seems to be an attraction for the tourists.
