Back to Albania the 5th Contingent of the Albanian Armed Forces, which participated in the Resolute Support Mission in Kabul, where it served for a 6-month period.

At the ceremony organized on this occasion were present the Minister of Defense, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Dedë Prenga, Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in our country, Mr. Sinan Cem Baş, commanders of forces, friends and relatives of coming home troops.

Defense Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli expressed the importance of the participation of the Albanian Armed Forces in international missions and stressed that the engagement on such a mission indicates that the Military Police is able to fulfill successfully the duties even in such a front line, which she described as the most violent operations led by NATO. "The success in guaranteeing the security and guarding of allied forces proves the ability and maturity of the well-equipped and well-behaved capabilities of our Military Police. By sweating, sacrificing and succeeding in their preparation and performance, these practitioners showed that they pertain to the elite structures of our Armed Forces. With the participation in this operation, the Military Police expands the spectrum of participation not only in domestic operations, but also in crisis operations across the globe alongside the Allies."

Following her speech, Minister Kodheli focused on the unpredictable environment and terrorist attacks and referred to this situation as today's security challenge, which according to her, calls for a comprehensive approach and shared contributions.

Thanking all the troops participating in this mission, Minister Kodheli stopped and thanked the Allies for their support: "Appreciating the support of the Allied countries given to our forces, especially those deployed in operations, I would certainly like to thank our Turkish allies for the support and assistance they gave to our forces in Kabul.

In his greeting speech, Deputy Ambassador to Turkey, Sinan Cem Baş, gave special importance to the excellent relations between Turkey and Albania, in every field and not just in the field of defense. He also praised the contribution of the Albanian Armed Forces and the increase of their presence in international missions, highlighting the participation of our Naval Force ship ”Oriku” in the Aegean Sea.

The contingent of five Albanian participants in the Resolute Support Mission consisted of Military Police Effectives and served under the command of the Turkish Armed Forces in Kabul for a 6-month period.

A few days ago, Albania sent in Afghanistan 2 other contingents, that will also serve for about 6 months in Kabul and Herat.
