Yesterday the Naval Force and the personnel of the Gjirokastra Regional Support Battalion, at the request of the Saranda Municipality, were engaged in an anti-pollution operation in one of Ksamil's beaches.
As a consequence of a sewage network defect, a part of the beach was contaminated causing great concern to many residents and many vacationers.Immediately after receiving notification, the effectives of Gjirokastra Regional Support Battalion and the stand-by ships "Vjosa" from Saranda and "Shkumbini" from Porto Palermo, set off to Ksamil.
The personnel of the Gjirokastra Regional Support Battalion went on cleaning the ground after it became possible to block the sewage pipe that was cracked.
Thanks to the intervention of the Armed Forces and the employees of the Municipality of Saranda, the situation on the beach of Ksamili was normalized and the whole surface of the beach and the sea was disinfected, ensuring that the holidaymakers can remain calm and enjoy their holidays without any problem.
