Defense Minister Mimi Kodheli, accompanied by the Deputy of the area, Mr. Sadi Vorpsi, inspected the work of the Armed Forces to extinguish fires at Kuçi, Vora.

In her speech for the media, Ms. Kodheli stressed that the fires are intentional and ruin Albania's image, just as they spoil the citizens' possessions, as it has ruined everything that was built with much effort and sweat.

Talking about the situation at the site, Minister Kodheli stressed the danger posed by the fire in that area and called on the people to support and cooperate with the authorities. "Near the fire there is a fireworks factory and a military unit with ammunition, both of which are at risk. These two facilities are not at risk anymore with the intervention by the AF and the CE.

So I would plead to the residents once again, to the citizens, to show kindness and good will and full support to these structures, to be present as was done before, to extinguish the fire because this is their area. These fires are intentional, and I would plead to all residents and citizens to give information for all those who set intentional fires.

It is impossible to overcome the situation immediately, when in all of Albania, someone gets up, sparks a match, sparks a small fire, to make a big fire. At the moment we are talking, there is a big fire in Mallakastra, we have extinguished a big fire in Dropull, there are fireplaces in Ulza, there are fireplaces in Tirana, still not extinguished, because of the conditions of extraordinary temperatures and today’s and yesterday’s wind. It is almost impossible for us to extinguish these fires throughout Albania, because there are so many insane people who deliberately spark fires wherever they can. "

Focusing on the work of the Armed Forces, Kodheli thanked heartily for their work by giving courage and calling them silent heroes either in the flood or in the fires, as they were in the front to help the community. At the same time, Kodheli also thanked Deputy Sadi Vorpsi, the former prefect, who has kept them informed and aware of the situation of fires as in the case of Kuci.

“I want to thank Civil Emergencies, Mr. Prençi, for awareness and information, but trust me that the situation is unprecedented and it is impossible for us to have control over the situation without the support of people, without the support of the local government, without the support of the hospitals, without the support of all structures that can and should give a hand to this irresponsibility. Now that we are talking here, we have 5 firefighters, ambulances, 40 support Command troops, 20 special troops, and many others who rotate alternately due to the limitations of human energies. There are people who have more than 48 hours trying to fight the flames"- the minister stressed. In the end Ms. Kodheli once again thanked the media that had come to a difficult terrain, but she remarked: "Trust me that awareness through the media is more than needed in these moments, so through you I want to utter this concern, and share this problem with the public”
