The Training Programme on Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP TP SAP 2017), took place in Tirana with the participation of representatives from Western Balkan countries and European Union member states.

This program is organized by the European Security and Defence College with the support of the Ministries of Defence of Austria, Hungary and Albania, as well as the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX), an instrument of the European Commission.

The aim of this activity is to provide a comprehensive approach and establish an informed strategic community for the organization and functioning of EU structures on the Common Security and Defence Policy, as well as the recognition of the strategic and planning aspect of civilian and military personnel of the participating countries, by sharing experiences.

Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Petro Koçi, who was present at this event, after thanking the organizers of the program, said that this program aims to spread and promote the European security culture. “Nowadays, the regional and European security is being challenged by a variety of threats and risks that come from the eastern and southern borders, including terrorist acts, the waves of migration and cyber-attacks. Given this unpredictable environment, it is of utmost importance to create a well-informed community in relation to Defence and Security issues, which will be used to build institutions that are based on the principles of a common European Security culture, by taking into consideration the diversity of our region”, said Mr. Koçi.

Speaking about our region, Deputy Minister Koçi emphasized that our country is contributing in military missions and civilian operations led by the EU and NATO. At the end of his speech, Mr. Koçi underlined that “Albania will continue to support its commitments, at NATO and EU level. We believe that EU and NATO, in cooperation, have the opportunity to address the multidimensional threats and challenges in Europe”.
