Minister Kodheli at the conference “5 years in NATO”

Minister Kodheli:We will restore the lacking dignity of the Armed Forces, and we will not allow statements for political use and benefit to harm the new image we are creating.
Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli participated at the international conference “5 years of NATO membership: the national-regional impact and future challenges”. The conference is organized by the Albanian Institute for International Studies. At the conference also attended the U.S. Ambassador in Tirana, Mr. Alexander Arvizu, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, the Head of the Democratic Party, Mr. Lulëzim Basha, diplomats, researchers, representatives of the academic world, as well as many other guests.

Minister Kodheli pays homage to Colonel (R) Mehdi Pogaçe

Under the direct auspices of the Ministry of Defence and General Staff, today at noon, it was paid homage, at the lobby of Armed Forces Museum, to the life of Colonel (R) Mehdi Pogaçe, President of the National Association of Reserve Officers.
At the homage attended hundreds of former militaries, their families, current militaries and civil employees of the Armed Forces, etc.

Second request sent to Attorney General from Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli

Honourable Attorney General,
As Minister of Defence, I’m sending this letter through which I request your immediate response regarding the latest statements made public by the political entity “Democratic Party of Albania”.
Mr. Attorney General, as you are aware, for several days MPs of this political force have slung mud at the Armed Forces making serious charges. Through this letter, I reiterate my concern regarding these charges which are trying to make the Armed Forces “cannon fodder by the antigovernment propaganda”.

Minister Kodheli converses with peacekeepers in Afghanistan

Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, through a video conference conversed with the personnel of “MAT 5” and “Eagle 8” contingents, who serve within the ISAF operation in Kandahar and Kabul, Afghanistan.
The commander of “MAT 5”, Colonel Ardjan Bali and the commander of “Eagle 8”, Major Agron Kuta briefed Defence Minister Kodheli on the current situation in the theatre of operation, as well as on the tasks our peacekeepers are carrying out successfully in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defence informs the public that today, on date April 11, 2014, have submitted to the General Prosecutor Office a letter for the Attorney General, Mr. Adriatik Llalla, requesting: the immediate launch of an investigation in reference to the accusations made yesterday by the member of the Parliament of the Democratic Party, Mr. Arben Imami, at the plenary session of the Parliament of Albania.
