Defence Intelligence Agency’s Training Centre takes the name of “Shawn Pine”

In the premises of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), it was held today the ceremony of awarding the medal “For Distinguished Services” (after death) to Lieutenant Colonel Shawn Pine, as well as giving his name to the Defence Intelligence Agency’s Training Centre. At the ceremony attended the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, generals and other senior militaries of the Armed Forces, the U.S. Defence Attaché, Commander (N) Ralph Shield, etc.

In the context of the litter collection throughout the territory, at the request of the Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism, the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces joined the litter collection action with the motto “Albania belongs to all, let’s keep it clean”.
Defence Minister Mimi Kodheli, accompanied by Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo and the head of the National Coastline Agency, Mr. Auron Tare, inspected the work of the Armed Forces in Velipoja and Shëngjin.

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo held a 24-hour visit to Afghanistan.
The leadership of the Ministry of Defence and General Staff of the Armed Forces met with the commander of ISAF mission, General Joseph F. Dunford, NATO Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mr. Maurits R. Jochems, commander of Joint Command, General Joseph Anderson, and with Brigadier General James E. Rainey, deputy commander of Regional Command South, direct command under which operate the Albanian Special Forces, which contribute to peace in Afghanistan, in Kandahar region.

Thanking President Nishani for the attention regarding the developments in Defence, but also noticing a misinterpretation by the President regarding several bills drafted by the Ministry of Defence with the full technical support of our international partners, the Minister of Defence Mimi Kodheli feels obliged to publicly clarify that, the comments made by President Nishani in his press release, regarding the bills in question, are absolutely inappropriate.

26 cadets begin military training in New Jersey, USA

Minister Kodheli:You will have all my support as Minister of Defence and of the General Staff... My final advice: our expectations of you are really high, thus do everything needed so that we all might feel proud of you.
For the first time, 26 Albanian cadets, candidates for commissioned officers, of whom eight are girls, will start training at the officers’ preparatory school in New Jersey, USA. On this occasion, the Ministry of Defence, in cooperation with the Office of Defence Cooperation (ODC) organized a special ceremony.
