Celebration of International Museum Day

This morning at the premises of the Armed Forces Museum took place a special ceremony on the occasion of the “International Museum Day”. May 18 was designated as International Museum Day in 1977, with Resolution no. 12 of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
The Armed Forces Museum aims to foster understanding and assessment of the Albanian Army’s history to the national and international public, and encourage dialogue between citizens and militaries, on the past, present and future of the Armed Forces.

At the ceremony held on this occasion attended Deputy Minister of Culture, Mr. Zef Çuni, the General Director of the Centre of Culture, Media and Defence Publications, Mr. Jakin Marena, representatives of the Armed Forces Museum, militaries, children and many other guests.
The opening speech of the ceremony was held by the head of the Armed Forces Museum, Mr. Gjergj Vladi.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Culture, Mr. Zef Çuni in his address said: “I am happy to see so many boys and girls, who have come to visit the Armed Forces Museum, and it is very important for the younger generation to recognize our history, to also know, what the Army, defence and war is”. Today, we are members of NATO and we are a safer country. Through this very nice museum, we can assesses even more the freedom we enjoy and be the citizens who respect laws and use this freedom to the benefit of our Homeland.

Later, the attendees visited the premises of the Armed Forces Museum.
