Children of military personnel visit the National Museum “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu”

In the framework of the International Museum Day, the children of military personnel, part of the visual arts courses organized by the Recreation Sector of the Directorate of Activities and Relations with Community, at the Centre of Culture, Media and Defence Publications, visited the National Museum “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” in Kruja. The director of the museum and its employees accompanied and informed the children and families of the military personnel about the war and glorious deed of our National Hero. In this occasion, the young artists, inspired by the history and cultural heritage of this museum, held a drawing competition depicting many different objects of the museum. The children also visited the facilities around the museum and the old bazaar of Kruja.

The National Museum “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” is one of the most visited in Albania. His inauguration was made on November 1, 1982 at the Castle of Kruja, capital of Arber state and personification of a 25 years resistance against the Ottoman armies in the fifteenth century. In this museum are exposed many objects, documents and original bibliographies, authentic reproductions that clearly testifies the history of the Albanian people in the fifteenth century and beyond. At pavilions of antiquity and early Middle Ages, Albanian rulers, Ottoman occupation and facing of the invasion, Albanian resistance, Chancery of Skanderbeg, library, hall of princes, etc, objects made of ceramic, brass, iron, copper, different facsimile, original icons, scriptures, a old bell of 1462, the original swords of the XV century, etc, are exposed.
