Becoming a Non-commissioned Officer

According to Article 5, paragraph 5 of Law 59/2014, "an active NCO is the military man/woman entitled as such by the order of the ChoD of AAF" and the recruitment of NCOs is done through internal competition.

2. Criteria for the competition to attend the NCO Base Course for the Private/Seaman IV

a) The applicant should have no less than two years as active Private/Seaman IV at the moment of application.
b) The applicant should not be more than 32 years old in the moment of application.
c) Should have an assessment of no less than “above average” in the last two annual evaluation reports (these referring to the evaluations of the superior).
d) The applicant should have a high school diploma.
e) The applicant should have passed the PT test.
f) The applicant should be in good health.
d) The applicant should be no shorter than 165 cm for men and 160 cm for women.

3. Application

a) The requirement to participate in the competition department command applies where the recruit/seaman IV is conducting the service.
b) The application shall be made in the format and modalities addressed in Annex A, within 30 days from the date of publication on the website of GS, address www.aaf.mil.al.
c) Attached to the application the applicant shall submit the report of the medical examination.

5. The competition includes:

a) Intellectual test.
b) Physical training tests.
c) Medical examination.
d) English language test.
e) Psychological test.
f) Assessment of merit titles.

The notification of candidates for the date and method of testing, and process management regulations are defined by J-1, which unless made public on the website of GS, notifies the relevant commands, in order to take the necessary measures.
