Join AAF as an officer

Candidates that will be recruited must have completed pre-university, or universitary education at home or abroad.
The category of pre-university education will be recruited mainly for studies in the Military Academies of NATO countries, on the basis of bilateral cooperation in the field of military education.
The category of university civilian/military education will perform specific military course to prepare them as officers.

Candidates that will be recruited must have completed pre-university education at home or abroad.

A. This category will be recruited mainly for studies in the Military Academies of NATO countries, on the basis of bilateral cooperation in the field of military education must meet the following criteria:

a)   Have an Albanian citizenship.
b)   Have completed pre-university education at home or abroad, recognized and equivalent by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Albania, or be in their final year of undergraduate studies.
c)   Not convicted or prosecuted by the Justice.
d)   Be less than 18 years old and no more than 22 years old in the beginning of the academic year.
e)   Unmarried.
f)    In good health.
g)   Have a regular physical body, healthy in all respects, without any deficiencies or signs that distort the look.
h)   Have a body length not less than 165 cm for men and no less than 160 women.
i)    Not carrier of hepatitis B virus, HIV and STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) other; not suffering in the past, or actually suffering from other diseases as heart, kidney, liver, and lung disease; neuropsychiatric disorder, or locomotor dysfunction, having used or using narcotics.
j)   Special admission criteria related to height, weight and age of the candidates, according to the specifications made in the agreements of cooperation in the field of education from countries that provide the right to study.
k)  Candidates who apply for studies at military educational institutions abroad should have a GPA and the GPA for specialties should be no less than eight (8).
l)   Candidates applying for military studies in the US must master the English language in reading, writing and speaking and provide over 70 points in ALCPT testing. They must be registered for online testing of the TOEFL, SAT or ACT, Annex "C".
m)  Candidates cannot enroll for studies at military educational institutions abroad, if:
- own a military diploma on the educational level they apply on
- have previously earned the status of military student
- have been contingent of AAF, for military studies at home or abroad and have not graduated.
- the candidate who does not meet one of the above criteria is disqualified.

B. The category of university civilian/military education will perform specific military course to prepare them as officers. The candidates must meet the following criteria:

a)   Have an Albanian citizenship
b)   Not be convicted or prosecuted by the Justice.
c)   At the time of application, the candidate should not be more than 25 years and 6 months. Exceptions are candidates for officers, who will be medical personnel of the Armed Forces, who at the time of application should not be more than 30 years and 6 months.
d)   Own a diploma/degree of higher education (minimum bachelor) at home or abroad, recognized and equivalent by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Albania.
e)   Have a GPA of higher education no less than 7 (seven).
f)    Be knowledgeable in English language in reading, writing, speaking, and have more than 75 points in ALCPT, held in FLC, TRADOC. This criterion is applied to the candidates who follow their studies in USA.
g)    Estimated as capable to serve in the Armed Forces during the medical examination.
h)    Have a body length not less than 165 cm for men and not less than 160 for women.
i)    The candidate should not have been dismissed in local or central administration (if he had been employed prior to application), for violations of the labor laws or legislation. This requirement applies to candidates who are not part of the AAF.

Documentation needed:

If it is the case A, candidates must submit the following documentation:
-  Written request for military studies, where is specified the educational institution and the preferred branch that is being applied.
-  Form with personal data according to the format specified, Annex "A" attached hereto.
-  Certified copy of the official document (diploma /degree) proving the completion of the respective education along with grade transcript.
-  Certified copy of the official document proving that the candidate is following the last year of undergraduate studies and grade transcript of the first year, second year and the current semester.
-  An ID card photocopy.
-  Family member certificate, 1 copy.
-  A picture for documents (4x6), 2 copies.
-  A passport photocopy.
-  Police record report.
- Bailiff certificate.
- Confirmation from the court that the candidate is not currently on trial.
-  Certification by the prosecution is not under process of investigation.
-  A TOEFL, SAT or ACT certificate (if any). This document is required only for the candidates who apply to follow the higher military education in USA.
-  A document which proves that the applicant is registered in an online tests for TOEFL, SAT or ACT. This document is required only to the candidates who are applying to follow higher military education in USA.
- Medical report given by the Military Hospital of the Armed Forces, which shows that, the candidate is capable of health to follow the military studies out of the country.
- The candidates applying to follow the higher military education in USA will fill in the form of medical record “Form DD 2807-1” and the health examination form “Form DD 2808”.
- The SUFA Medical Commission decision, proving the ability or inability of an officer candidate, accompanied by medical examinations showing that the candidate is not the bearer of hepatitis B virus and HIV or STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) other; no past or suffer from other diseases as heart diseases, kidney, liver, lung, neuropsychiatric, locomotors system (bone and movement system) or have been or be a user of narcotics.

If it is the case B, the candidates shall submit the following documentation:
- A written request
- The form with personal data according to the format specified, Annex "A" attached hereto.
- An ID card photocopy
- Certified copy of the official document proving that the candidate has finished higher education and the grade transcript.
- Family member certificate, 1 copy.
- A picture for documents (4x6), 2 copies.
- Police record report.
- Confirmation from the court that the candidate is not currently on trial.
- Confirmation from the court that the candidate is not currently on trial.
- Certification by the prosecution is not under process of investigation.
- Bailiff certificate.
- Medical report issued by the Military Hospital of the Armed Forces, which states that the candidate is able to be recruited as a new officer candidate.
