Albania - NATO Meeting on Defence Planning Capacities

In the premises of the Skanderbeg Garrison, on 15th of October, 2019, was organized a bilateral Albania - NATO Meeting on “Defence Planning Capacities Survey - DPCS 2019”, in the framework of the NATO Defence Planning Process (NDPP)

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the completion of the NATO Defense Capacity Survey (DPCS-2019), which Albania has sent to NATO.

Another important point was, introducing the results achieved by our country in the implementation of the 2017 - Capacity Objectives Package, the current status of defense policies and plans, and the progress of the Capacity Review.

The meeting was opened by the Albanian leader Mr. Gjergji Methoxha, Director of the NATO and EU Policy Directorate at Ministry of Defence. Following the opening speech, the work groups were divided according to the planning areas. The discussions took place according to the format of the questions and uncertainties that NATO staff had previously sent us.

Overall, the meeting proved to be effective and highly informative, also appreciated by the head of the NATO delegation, Mr. Paul Savereux, Director of Defence Planning, Defence Policy and Planning Division at NATO HQ, on the second day of the meeting while discussing the outcome of the meeting.

Among other things the head of NATO delegation assessed as very positive the maintenance and further enhancement of the political will to develop and implement the 2017 - Capacity Objectives Package; the upward trend in achieving commitments considering the Defense Budget at 2% in 2024 and for Large Expenditures at 20% in 2024; Albania's broad operational contributions.
