A new stage in Civil Protection

This summer's fires have taught important lessons about how to deal with natural emergencies.
The government's plan for a profound transformation of the Fire Service opens a new chapter in Civil Protection.
In a meeting with representatives of the Armed Forces, the Fire Brigade, and the State Police, concrete measures to strengthen the response in the future were presented.

During his speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that all citizens affected by this summer's fires will receive full compensation.
Legislative changes will promote the insurance of homes and businesses against natural disasters.
The strengthening of criminal legislation for arsonists will include a ban on any type of building permit for 30 years.
Firefighters will be included in the Armed Forces salary increase formula.

Defense Minister Pirro Vengu emphasized that the Civil Protection chapter will be based on three main pillars:
 1. Human Capital: strengthening the municipal response chain and establishing regional emergency centers.
 2. Innovation: the use of technology.
 3. Efficient use of financial instruments available to municipalities.
The focus is on the emergency management system, which must be revitalized and cover the entire national territory to ensure safety and an adequate real-time response to any potential risk.
