Defense Budget Draft Reaches for the first time 2.12% of GDP

The Ministry of Defense's Draft Budget for 2026 is presented to the Commission on Internal Affairs and Defense.

For the first time, the Defense Budget reaches 2.12% of Gross Domestic Product.
It foresees 58.9 billion Lek, an increase of 12% compared to 2025.
Main directions:
Increase in salaries and benefits for military personnel; investments to increase military capacities; renewal of the "Made in Albania" industry; new national fleet for civil emergencies; increase of Albania's role in the Alliance.
Minister Vengu described it as the most ambitious since Albania's membership in NATO: it is a budget of security, development and national pride.
