Defence Minister Pirro Vengu took part in the US - Adriatic Charter (A-5) Ministerial in Sarajevo, a forum that brings together the United States and the countries of the Western Balkans.
He noted that the region still faces inherited challenges and emerging threats, which require closer cooperation and increased investment in human capital, cyber defence, industry and shared capabilities.
The Minister stressed that the A-5 Initiative is a vital platform for strengthening the resilience of its member countries and that Kosovo’s membership in this initiative represents a strategic necessity.
The A-5 Initiative was established in 2003 by the United States, Albania, Croatia, and North Macedonia to support NATO integration, while Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina joined in 2008.
