3 helicopters arrive from the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, assistance from the EU Civil Protection Mechanism

3 helicopters have arrived at Rinas Airport, from the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, part of the support that the two countries are giving to Albania, in the framework of the activation of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, to extinguish fires in the territory of Albania.

The helicopters were received at the "Mother Teresa" airport by Deputy Defence Minister Dallëndyshe Bici, the director of the Civil Protection Agency Haki Çako, representatives of the respective embassies, the political chief of the EU Delegation in Tirana Alexis Hupin.

After 11 days of “battle” from ground and air, 163 wildfires extinguished. Ministry of Defense: The situation in the country right now

163 wildfires were extinguished throughout the country, during 11 days. The National Civil Protection Agency evaluated the work done by the personnel of the Armed Forces, during the intervention in the aid of the local government authorities.

The fires that broke out in the municipality of Fier on July 28, 2021, in the village of Kreshpan, Cakran and in the landfill in Fier were extinguished after 3 days without causing damages of properties or casualties.

Fire on the Karaburun Peninsula, approximately 500 FA troops on the ground

The Armed Forces have been engaged since the early hours of this morning in the extinguishing from the flames operation onto the Karaburun Peninsula with approximately 500 servicemen, 50 vehicles, 3 helicopters, firefighters and ambulances. The flames continued to be active overnight, becoming a danger to the residents of Dukat village. The efforts have been going on for hours from the ground and from the air to control the flames, to inhibit the advancing towards Llogara Park.

Civil Protection Committee meeting, Peleshi: The situation in Karaburun is serious, we will increase capacities starting tomorrow

The Civil Protection Committee discussed the situation created in recent days by fires in some areas of the country. Defence Minister Niko Peleshi assessed the situation on the Karaburun Peninsula as serious, where the hearth has reached dangerous proportions, helped also by the wind, which affects the spread of the flames.
Defence Minister said that the work done to prevent the fires to spread into the Pashaliman Base has been a success, while work is being done to extinguish the hearth on Dukat Mountain, to prevent the flames from passing into Llogara Park.
