NATO continuous its mission in Afghanistan, Albania doubles its troops

During the second day of NATO Summit in Warsaw, the Minister of Defence Mrs. Mimi Kodheli attended the meeting held with Afghanistan senior representatives. In that meeting the leaders of nations contributing to the Resolute Support Mission reaffirmed their commitment to the long-term security and stability of Afghanistan.

Minister Kodheli at the NATO Summit in Warsaw

During the NATO Summit being held in Warsaw, Defence Minister Mrs. Kodheli held a meeting with her Turkish Counterpart Fikri Işık. Initially Minister Kodheli condemned the attack at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, and expressed her condolences to the families of the victims.

NATO Summit, Minister Kodheli on a conversation with journalists

Defence Minister Mrs. Kodheli hosted today the journalists for a conversation regarding the issues that are expected to be discussed at the NATO Summit which will be held in Warsaw on 8 and 9 July 2016.

Initially Minister Kodheli noted that this time the NATO Summit takes place in a moment when we face serious security challenges, which are the main topics of this Summit. Afterwards Mrs. Kodheli spoke about Albania's participation in international missions, as well as our country's posture regarding the open door policy of NATO.

Press Release

The Air Force of Albanian Republic clarifies that the two pilots who lost their lives in the tragic accident on April 6th, had been qualified and trained. Due to the need of replacing the helicopter crashed in France with another type, helicopter EC 145, SAR variant, it became necessary to amend the contract of Cougar helicopters. This amendment hasn’t changed any stipulation of the previous contract in terms of training.
