Heavy rainfalls aggravate the situation in Shkodra, the Armed Forces start evacuations

In recent days rainfalls have aggravated the situation in Shkodra. 1st Infantry Battalion has increased its presence on the ground to help the local population. Meanwhile, in Obot village, the Regional Support Battalion continues to help the population with their transportation every day using 7 boats.

Deputy Minister of Defense Petro Koçi, accompanied by the General Director of the National Agency of Civil Emergencies Haki Çako and the Prefect of the Region Majlinda Angoni are monitoring the situation in the flooded areas in the Municipality of Shkodra.

"Defender Europe 21", Peleshi receives the American General: We are honoured to host one of the largest exercises in Europe

Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Europe and Africa, Major General Joseph F. Jarrard met the Defence Minister Niko Peleshi to discuss the preparations undertaken ahead of the “Defender Europe 21” exercise.

After informing Major General Jarrard regarding the current situation, Minister Peleshi assured him that all the Albanian state structures are ready to help for the successful completion of “Defender Europe 21” exercise.

Minister Peleshi visits the Air Base in Kuçova: Work on the ground starts this autumn

During a visit in Kuçova’s Air Base, Minister Peleshi announced that the works for the reconstruction of the base would start in October. The Minister was accompanied by Chief of General Staff Major General Bajram Begaj and the XO of the Air Force Colonel Ylli Pulaj.

Minister Peleshi took a closer look to the area where the reconstruction will take place, transforming Kuçova’s Air Base in the only NATO deployable tactical base in the region.

Flooding in Shkodër, Armed Forces aid the local population

With the intensification of the rain and the increase of the water level in nën-Shkodra area, the Armed Forces have increased their efforts in aiding the local population using sailing vehicles from the Regional Support Battalion and high vehicles from the 1st Infantry Battalion.

The AAF personnel assisted in the transportation of the local population regarding their daily routine, and evacuation or transportation of people with health problems. Such was the case of a 5-year-old girl who needed medical aid. The troops of the Regional Support Battalion helped with the transportation from Obot village to the main road, where an autoambulance was waiting.
