Minister Peleshi in Brussels, Porto Romano new project will offer dedicated military infrastructure for the Armed Forces and NATO

Defence Minister Niko Peleshi participated in the meeting of the defence ministers of the North Atlantic Alliance countries that was held at the NATO headquarters in Brussels. The discussion focused on further strengthening the Alliance and the continuation of support for NATO partner countries, at a time when Russian aggression in Ukraine has passed 100 days since its launch. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Defense of Ukraine, Georgia, Sweden, Finland, as well as the High Representative of the European Union.

Defense Minister Niko Peleshi is paying a two-day visit to Greece with the invitation of his counterpart Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos. The conversation between the two ministers was centered on the current security challenges, with a particular focus on the situation in Ukraine, the potential consequences on regional security, the Euro -Atlantic integration process, and the mutual commitments within NATO and regional.
The meeting between the two delegations took place in a very friendly atmosphere, where their thoughts and ideas to further develop and intensify the cooperation in the field of Defense, focusing on military education and training fields, health, and joint exercises as well as other commitments in the Balkan region.
Fires, Greece and Albania ready to renew the agreement in the field of Civil Emergencies

Albania and Greece have agreed to renew the agreement in order to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the field of Civil Emergencies, time when both countries are facing such issues as fires and at the time that our country is determined to increase and modernize the response capacities.

The fire hearths on Sazan Island are neutralized after the continuous work from land and air interventions.
122 effectives of the Armed Forces, 9 vehicles, and 2 ships were engaged in the operation launched three days ago to extinguish the fire. The air intervention started this morning. Canadair Cl - 415 joined our forces, as support by Greece, in the framework of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. The situation in Sazan Island is under control, even though effectives are still working to avoid any possible re-ignition of flame.

Although keeping the situation under control, after a 48-hour operation of controlling and extinguishing the fire on Sazan Island, air intervention was deemed necessary.
For this purpose, a Canadair CL 415 aircraft sent from Greece is joined today early in the morning to extinguish the fire from the air on the island of Sazan. The Canadair CL 415 aircraft will intervene to extinguish the fire from the air in support of the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union (Emergency Response Coordination Center - ERCC), following the request of the National Civil Protection Agency.
