The Rubik's factory complex will be transformed into a military industrial center. Defense Minister Pirro Vengu, along with Prime Minister Edi Rama and Justice Minister Ulsi Manja, inspected the premises, where they also discussed with former employees of the plant.
In his speech, Minister Vengu stated that this project will be realized after several negotiations, which are still ongoing: "We are very close to achieving the goal that the Albanian Government has set for the revitalization of the military industry in our country. Certainly, this new military structure will undoubtedly bring several benefits, not only for the local economy, but also for logistics and support services that will gravitate around this structure", - stressed Minister Vengu. According to the Minister of Defense, the development of the military industry will create numerous job opportunities.
"We are not aiming for rearmament, but for the development of a sustainable economy, where the military industry is one of the main pillars of the reindustrialization of the country," said Minister Vengu.
On his side, Prime Minister Edi Rama, said: "We have identified this facility as one of the points where we will invest and produce for our Armed Forces, and mainly for export. This certainly means, firstly, a new and significant front for employment; secondly, quality employment, because this requires a wide range of specializations, from engineering and technical work, to all support services."
The Prime Minister said that by developing this sector, we not only will increase our defense capabilities, but also will grow significantly the local and national economy.
Prime Minister Rama also stressed that negotiations are underway with allies and prestigious companies in the defense sector to actually start these investments.
"These military industry centers will be distributed in different locations, according to their capabilities and profiles, and will be specialized in different types of production. For all this, we are cooperating and negotiating with Albania's main allies and some of the largest and most prestigious companies in the defense sector. We have opened the right path for the conclusion of these agreements and soon this program will start in practice, after the signing of the contract, here at the Rubik Military Industry Center", - said Prime Minister Rama.
He also noted that investments in defense will continue, along with increases in military personnel's salaries. The defense industry has a clear goal: by 2030, Albania will be included in the map of countries producing vehicles, artillery, armaments, drones and ammunition. Part of the buildings of the Rubik plant will be put into operation for investors who will invest in this sector.
